    The raw-material
The raw-material which we use for our products is based on a new generation of biodegradable substances, mainly made from corn-starch (Mater-Bi). After use our products biodegrade completely in composting- and bio-gasification plants.
Our raw-material Mater-Bi is future wising and environ- mentally friendly: An independent research group has carried out a life cycle analysis of Mater-Bi BioBags compared with compostable paper and non-compostable polyethylene (PE) bags. The life cycle report included the purchase of raw materials, manufacturing and treatment, transport as well as disposal and recycling. The results were clear: Mater-Bi has shown low total energy consumption and contributes significantly to reducing the greenhouse effect thanks to the natural ingredients of its raw materials.


Certificates
The biodegradability of our raw-material is continuously tested and monitored by authorized organisations and has been certified according to national and international composting-standards e.g. DIN, CEN, ISO, ASTM. All our products carry the "OK compost" mark (which is based on the European standard EN 13432) and DIN-conformity mark: Which means that when using conventional composting-methods, the material converts to water, CO2 and compost. Both marks also certify that bioMat®-products biodegrade under composting conditions within approximately 45 days without leaving any harmful or toxic residues to plants or animals.
